Ovulation Cycles
Everything you need to know!
Many women know the symptoms that come along with the
ovulation process, however some might not know the exact process that happens
inside your body causing these symptoms (even though you should!)
During the few days before ovulation a woman's ovary increases in blood supply,
and the ligaments surrounding the ovary begin to contract. The ovary is then
pulled closer to the fallopian tube where the egg that is released will soon
travel. During this time, the cervical mucus on the out genitalia becomes
stretchy and substantial (this aids the sperm's travel towards your released
egg).
When the egg is released, it is carried through the fallopian tube towards your
uterus. This is where the fertilization magic happens! As the egg reaches the
uterus it meets any sperm that has traveled into your body. New research shows
that the egg actually chooses what sperm it would want to fertilize it, and if
successful, will begin the pregnancy process!
During this process there are a few signs that will occur such as increase in
consistency of the cervical mucus, increase in basal body temperature and the
increase of the hormone, LH or luteinizing hormone. There are also some symptoms
such as a increase in sex drive, breast tenderness and abdominal pain.
